School Board members are elected officials, serving four-year terms, who play a very important role in public education. Our five Board members are responsible for setting School policy, employing the Superintendent and Treasurer, overseeing School direction, and representing community priorities. We are fortunate at Napoleon Area City Schools to have an active and engaged Board.

Our Board of Education provides proof that quality Board members do not simply attend meetings, but engage in shaping the present and future of Napoleon Area City Schools. Being a school board member is truly a service position. Our Board members all have busy professional and personal lives with careers and families, but they sacrifice time and energy to serve the parents and students of this community.

    First Year On Board... 1986

    Current Term Expires... 2023

    Occupation... Lawyer (Retired)

I received my elementary and high-school education in Napoleon, which well prepared me for another eight years of college and graduate/professional education.  My experiences demonstrated to me the enduring value of a quality education - both personally and professionally.  Serving as a member of our board of education was, and continues to be, a call for me to provide quality educational opportunities for the young people of our school district, including my own children.

With the assistance and direction of capable and dedicated staff, within a quality campus and facilities generously provided by our taxpayers, and with an emphasis on providing the finest technology available for our students, I am most proud of the educational opportunities that we have provided, and continue to provide, for our students - both inside and outside the classroom.

    First Year On Board... 2015

    Current Term Expires...2025

Occupation...  Vice President / Commercial Lender, The Sherwood State Bank

I  was excited to join the School Board to serve the community and school that my children attend.  I am proud of our excellent facilities, the many opportunities that our kids have for extracurricular participation, and most importantly our dedicated teachers, staff and administration that go above and beyond for our kids.

    First Year on Board... 2019

    Current Term Expires... 2023

Occupation... Human Resources, Sauder Woodworking Co.

I was raised in Napoleon, and graduated from NHS in 1995. I now have 2 children in the Napoleon Area School system. As a parent and community member I have been guilty of questioning the district's decisions in the past. Admittedly, it's not fair, but easy to do. So I decided that I wanted to learn more about the process. I started attending school board meetings, and then felt moved to serve in a more active manner. So when the next election came around I decided to run. I'm really glad that I did! This is just my first term, but it has been an eye opener for me. I'm truly grateful for everyone that plays a role in keeping our school system up and running!
