Remember that you must have data from prior to break and after a break to determine loss of skills. Team should determine the reasonable amount of time to recoup based on peer level recoupment and disability of student considering ESY. Ask Director of Special Education or building administrator to assist during conversation if needed.
THING to CONSIDER:
The most common reason for providing ESY is that a student's skill level regresses over breaks from school, and that skill level is not recouped in a reasonable amount of time once they return to schools from a break.
ESY services are provided in order to provide instruction on chosen specific IEP goals
ESY services are individualized
ESY is different than "summer school"
